UPDATE 1: From Drudge Report:
‘B’ CARVED INTO 20-YEAR OLD WOMAN’S FACE…
SHOCK: MCCAIN CAMPAIGN VOLUNTEER ATTACKED AND MUTILATED IN PITTSBURGH
Plenty of peace and love coming from Barack Obama supporters.
Developing…
UPDATE 2: Is this what Barack Obama meant by saying, “Get in their face!” ?
UPDATE 3: The Pittsburgh Channel
PITTSBURGH — A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.
Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim’s car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter “B” into her face, Richard said.
Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank’s surveillance cameras.
The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.
UPDATE 4: Ace at ACE OF SPADES HQ and Ed Morrissey at Hot Air both caution that this robbery was not due to politics, however, the robber did become enraged at the woman’s McCain / Palin sticker on her car. So, the woman being assaulted is politically motivated.
The woman’s name is Ashley Todd. Here is a picture of her after she was attacked.
Ms. Ashley Todd is a College Republican field representative.
UPDATE 5: Check out the video at KDKA.com.
The police might classify the assault as a hate crime.
Governor Palin called Ashley Todd to wish her well.
UPDATE 6: The story has been confirmed to be true.
From update 7 on Hot Air:
Charlie Smith, the National Chair, and Ethan Eilon, the Executive Director, both say the photo is legitimate and that it came from Ashley Todd, the victim in this case. The attack began at 8:50 pm ET and Ashley called the police at 9:30 PM ET. Initially, she was robbed, ran away after the robbery, and the robber followed her to her car. At that point, he became enraged at the bumper sticker and began beating her and scratched the ‘B’ into her face. Ashley went to the hospital early this morning after initially refusing medical attention last night, and had an MRI and/or a CAT scan. Doctors believe her cheek will heal fully.
Eilon spoke with her personally today about the incident and confirmed the above with me. He first met Ashley in June, when she came to DC for training with the College Republicans. She works for them as a contract employee. She does not work for the McCain campaign. Both Eilon and Smith expressed revulsion over an attack on a young woman just getting involved in politics, but they consider this the act of a lone lunatic.
I wonder at what time she went to the hospital. She probably has not had much sleep in the past 24 hours.

That’s horrible. I hope that she’ll be well cared for.
October 23rd, 2008 at 4:31 pm
That is sick and twisted …..and part of the Obama “get in their faces” scheme….
October 23rd, 2008 at 6:52 pm
This is far worse than any fringe group videoed by leftist zombies at McCain Rally Parking lots. The difference though, is that Obama will likely not denounce this in any way close to his demands for McCain to denounce the handful of fringe people interviewed at his rally.
October 23rd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
Wow, I am sorry for her, but you can not blame Obama for this. This was probably done by an Obama supporter, but it is not his fault. Obama does not have to denounce this act in no way. It was not done at one of his rallies, nor was it part of his get in their face “scheme”.
I am truly sorry she got attacked no one deserves that, but to blame it on Obama, and wanting him to denounce it is absurd. I am not one of those “zombies” apparently you are a Palin zombie that believes anything that idiot says.
October 23rd, 2008 at 7:28 pm
I wish I could say this surprised me, but I expect anything out of any Obama supporter, black or white. I really do hope they classify this as a hate crime, because that’s exactly what it is. I know that she was able to speak to Senator McCain on the phone and he offered her his sympathies. It’s the liberals, the supporters of BO, that are so against violence, so against treating others unfairly, and then bs like this happens.
October 23rd, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Something doesn’t smell right about this. What petty thief stops to read a bumper sticker, and goes back and takes the time to etch a perfect “B” in her face? And she refused medical treatment…saying she might see a doctor the next day.
I’m very skeptical…

No surprise here. After all he was only 8 years old when……….

Sickening; just sickening but this is what Ayers and Alinsky have advocated to their disciples. Get in people’s faces, cause terrorism and acts of anarchy or vigilantism, and be stigmatic and ignoble towards those with differing views.
I feel bad for this girl. A cute conservative girl like her does not deserve this. Hell, anyone doesn’t deserve this.
So, much for John Lennonism and peace and love and all that bullshit. Liberal stinginess/stuffiness at it’s best.
The attempted arrest of Rove, the tagging of Sen. Coleman and Bachmann’s houses, the incident in Central Florida where a man’s McCain/Palin sign was shot up with pellets, and others to name just go to show liberalism has gotten nasty and vicious moreso than ever since they’ve allowed the Left to come on in and take over.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Why is everyone saying its Obama fault. He was probably enraged by the base supporter’s hate towards blacks and anything other than christian. Like the report says, “they consider this the act of a lone lunatic.”
“liberalism has gotten nasty and vicious moreso than ever since they’ve allowed the Left to come on in and take over.” Wow, I can not believe you actually think this. How does a political party actually cause this crime? Should I add the south is mostly Republican, and all of the hate crimes towards black, gays, and other religious groups were not put on republicans for the blame. Most republicans HATE gays and blacks.
KKK was supported by the evangelical church… which supports the republican party. Are you going to say conservatism was the cause of that… NO! This happens everyday, and to put it on a political party is STUPID. Just goes to show your prejudice towards others that are not like you.
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Find the scumbag that did this and bust his ass into jail…NOW!
October 23rd, 2008 at 8:36 pm
This is another example of extremism and why people with extremist attitudes are dangerous. In this country we still have the right to speak freely and to vote. Keeping that in mind people should always voice their political discontent at the voting booth.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Shows what kind of depraved people support that asshole Obama and his stupid ass running mate Biden.
October 24th, 2008 at 12:35 am
“Why is everyone saying its Obama fault.”
It’s not “Obama’s Fault.” But will Obama denounce it when he’s criticizing McCain for the actions of his supporters, which McCain can’t control either?
McCain has denounced people who do dishonorable things in his name. Obama has yet to do the same.

“Should I add the south is mostly Republican, and all of the hate crimes towards black, gays, and other religious groups were not put on republicans for the blame. Most republicans HATE gays and blacks.
KKK was supported by the evangelical church… which supports the republican party. Are you going to say conservatism was the cause of that… NO!”
Once again your stupidity astounds me:
The True History of the Racist Democratic Party:
How many blacks know that following the Civil War, 23 blacks — 13 of them ex-slaves — were elected to Congress, all as Republicans? The first black Democrat was not elected to Congress until 1935, from the state of Illinois. The first black congressional Democrat from a Southern state was not elected until 1973.
Democrats, in 1854, passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This overturned the Missouri Compromise and allowed for the importation of slaves into the territories. Disgusted with the passage of this Act, free-soilers and anti-slavery members of the Whig and Democratic parties founded the Republican Party — not just to stop the spread of slavery, but to eventually abolish it.
How many blacks know that blacks founded the Texas Republican Party? On July 4, 1867, in Houston, Texas, 150 blacks and 20 whites formed the party. No, not the Black Texas Republican Party, they founded the Texas Republican Party. Blacks across Southern states also founded the Republican parties in their states.
Fugitive slave laws? In 1850, Democrats passed the Fugitive Slave Law. If merely accused of being a slave, even if the person enjoyed freedom all of his or her life (as approximately 11 percent of blacks did just before the Civil War), the person lost the right to representation by an attorney, the right to trial by jury, and the right to habeas corpus.
Emancipation? Republican President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation during the Civil War. In 1865, the 13th Amendment emancipating the slaves was passed with 100 percent of Republicans (88 of 88 in the House, 30 of 30 in the Senate) voting for it. Only 23 percent of Democrats (16 of 66 in the House, 3 of 8 in the Senate) voted for it.
Civil rights laws? In 1868, the 14th Amendment was passed giving the newly emancipated blacks full civil rights and federal guarantee of those rights, superseding any state laws. Every single voting Republican (128 of 134 — with 6 not voting — in the House, and 30 of 32 — with 2 not voting — in the Senate) voted for the 14th Amendment. Not a single Democrat (zero of 36 in the House, zero of 6 in the Senate) voted for it.
Right to vote? When Southern states balked at implementing the 14th Amendment, Congress came back and passed the 15th Amendment in 1870, guaranteeing blacks the right to vote. Every single Republican voted for it, with every Democrat voting against it.
Ku Klux Klan? In 1872 congressional investigations, Democrats admitted beginning the Klan as an effort to stop the spread of the Republican Party and to re-establish Democratic control in Southern states. As PBS’ “American Experience” notes, “In outright defiance of the Republican-led federal government, Southern Democrats formed organizations that violently intimidated blacks and Republicans who tried to win political power. The most prominent of these, the Ku Klux Klan, was formed in Pulaski, Tenn., in 1865.” Blacks, who were all Republican at that time, became the primary targets of violence.
Jim Crow laws? Between 1870 and 1875, the Republican Congress passed many pro-black civil rights laws. But in 1876, Democrats took control of the House, and no further race-based civil rights laws passed until 1957. In 1892, Democrats gained control of the House, the Senate and the White House, and repealed all the Republican-passed civil rights laws. That enabled the Southern Democrats to pass the Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, literacy tests, and so on, in their individual states.
Civil rights in the ’60s? Only 64 percent of Democrats in Congress voted for the 1964 Civil Rights Act (153 for, 91 against in the House; and 46 for, 21 against in the Senate). But 80 percent of Republicans (136 for, 35 against in the House; and 27 for, 6 against in the Senate) voted for the 1964 Act.
What about the reviled, allegedly anti-black, Republican “Southern strategy”? Pat Buchanan, writing for Richard Nixon (who became the Republican Party candidate two years later) coined the term “Southern strategy.” They expected the “strategy” to ultimately result in the complete marginalization of racist Southern Democrats. “We would build our Republican Party on a foundation of states’ rights, human rights, small government, and a strong national defense,” said Buchanan, “and leave it to the ‘party of [Democratic Georgia Gov. Lester] Maddox, [1966 Democratic challenger against Spiro Agnew for Maryland governor George] Mahoney, and [Democratic Alabama Gov. George] Wallace to squeeze the last ounces of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice.’” And President Richard Nixon, Republican, implemented the first federal affirmative action (race-based preference) laws with goals and timetables.
That’s what I love about people from the North who just sit there looking down on the South and thinking that the Klan is made up of Republicans when in actuality it is made up of Dixiecrats and was founded by Southern Democrats.
Most Republicans also don’t hate blacks or gays. Hell, none of us care that Barack Obama is black. Race doesn’t matter to us. Obama could be yellow, green, blue, orange, magenta, or neon pink and we’d still not vote for him not because of the color of his skin but because of his policies. I wanted Condi Rice as a potential V.P. pick for McCain. Does that make me a racist, Asebes? Oh wait…it’s you Dems who call her and Michael Steele “Oreos” or “Uncle Toms” because they’re not the stereotypical black and don’t do or say things that are liberal.
As for gays, I believe in traditional marriage and support the sanctity of it. I believe in this country was founded on Judeo-Christianity and I believe that homosexuality, bisexuality, and lesbianism is a sin. You of course will call that homophobia but I look at what they do or practice as abnormal, foreign, wrong, and taboo. If Barack gets in expect another Sodom and Gomorrah or Europe in our own damn country!
October 24th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Cole,
I can’t believe you wrote all that in response to Asebes! He doesn’t read responses to his nonsense. He just says the first ignorant and prejudiced thing that comes to his mind and goes with it. He is a hateful person and proves it every time he writes a post.
October 24th, 2008 at 10:57 am
And he’s not interested in learning history either. Were he, he would not be a liberal.
October 24th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
She made the entire story up. This pisses me off on so many levels: (1) She tried to cast Obama supporters in a negative lights; and (2) She made up the stereotypical perp: a black man of indeterminable features. For what?
She makes me sick. All of it makes me sick.

I hope she gets the medical assistance she obviously needs.

I am pissed as well. The backwards B had me scratching my head thinking she carved it while looking in the mirror.
But Caroline, I must say that it’s not a crime to “cast Obama supporters in a negative light.” She might’ve went about it wrong, but it’s not like we don’t have videos are plenty of stories where Obama Fascists have actually beat people up and vandalized property. Obama’s supporters, like Obama himself, are not immune to criticism and to believe that they are immune, is a belief that threatens the very freedom of expression and opinion that has made us the greatest Nation on earth.
October 24th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
No, people can say whatever they want about Obama. Making a false statement to the police, though? That is a crime.
I am all about knowing about the wrongdoings of people, and in my initial response on Los’s blog, I even said I hope they catch him. I had sympathy for her, and to find out it was all just to alienate white Obama supporters who might be disgusted by the actions of a black supporter? That’s obscene. If people want to detail every legitimate wrongdoing by an Obama supporter, I have absolutely no problem with that. I do, however, have a problem with this.
