When did America and France “kick out” Hezbollah?

Posted by Carlos C. on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 at 4:04 pm

Joe Biden said last night:

When we kicked — along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said, and Barack said, ‘Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don’t know — if you don’t, Hezbollah will control it.

I am not sure when America or France were ever at war with Hezbollah. I know that Israel and Hezbollah had a war over the summer in July of 2006. I would love for NATO forces to take out Hezbollah, but that would set off a powder keg, and if Iran does have a nuke, or nukes, they would be launched without haste.

Also, the Jawas note:

The U.S. and Europeans did cooperate to pressure Syria to move its troops out of Lebanon in the wake of the assassination of the Lebanese politician whose name escapes me at the moment, but that’s a very different thing.

The politician’s name was Pierre Gemayel. His assassination was extremely bloody, too.

I thought Joe Biden’s expertise was in foreign policy?

Chalk up another one for the gaffe-o-meter!

Wow, Joe did make a mistake, but Palin just spoke nonsense. No one actually knew what she was talking about. She was EXTREMELY vague, and the moderator sucked. No follow up questions for neither. I was VERY disappointed. Sarah Palin would have CHOKED.

    How was Sarah Palin “vague”?

    Examples?
