A spokesman for the John McCain campaign confirms to CBS News that the candidate’s Denver office has received a letter with a threat and an amount of white powder.
According to the official, “we immediately notified local and Federal law enforcement agencies and are looking to cooperate with them.”

(CBS) John McCain’s campaign office in Denver, Colorado, has received a letter containing a threat and “an amount of white powder in it,” a McCain campaign spokesman told CBS News’ Michelle Levi.
“We immediately notified local and federal law enforcement agencies and are looking to cooperate with them,” McCain spokesman Jeff Sadosky said.
The city of Denver is at a heightened security level, as the Secret Service and other officials prepare for the Democratic National Convention, which is set to begin on Monday.
The Arapaho County Police Station was abuzz with activity when they were called to confirm receiving word of the threat, Levi reports. They have started a call line as officials return media calls one by one.
I wonder what the “white powder” is…
UPDATE 3: Reuters.com is reporting that John McCain’s campaign headquarters office in Denver was evacuated!
UPDATE 4: is reporting that John McCain’s New Hampshire office received another threat and is evacuated! There may or may not be powder in the second letter.

First of all no ones life should be threatened no matter what party you are affiliated with. It is a shame that we can’t even hold civilized events with out ignorant people wanting to mess it up. It’s like these people don’t want better for themselves or their neighbors. Put the ego away, take off the blinders, use your common sense( If you have it) and I’m sure that you will be enlightened on reality! Sen. Obama’s supporters aren’t desperate! Who told you that lie? Wake up people do you want all this kaos to end in the U.S and the world or do you want to struggle making ends meet with no end in sight. Obama wants change, I want change and my fellow soldiers want change. So everyone needs to unite and stop holding grudges because Clinton isn’t running. I wanted both to win but we can only have one to represent us. Anyone who switches to McCain has clearly contradicted themselves! Don’t open mouth and insert foot just like the people who voted for Bush did! Make the right decision from the start!
