In an interview in Chester, Va., the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee said he’s made up his mind, but he would not say whether he’s informed that person yet. “I won’t comment on anything else until I introduce our running mate to the world,” he said. “That’s all you’re going to get out of me.”
Obama said it was a difficult decision. “We had some great choices.”
Obama said he wanted somebody who is “prepared to be president” and who will be “a partner with me in strengthening this economy for the middle class and working families.”
He said he was looking for not just a partner but a sparring partner. “I want somebody who’s independent, somebody who can push against my preconceived notions and challenge me so we have got a robust debate in the White House.”
As I posted earlier, I still believe Tim Kaine will be the VP choice. Obama believes he can win Virginia’s 13 electoral votes with Kaine on board.
While discussing VP’s, I believe McCain is down to two VP choices. The picks are Pawlenty or Romney.
UPDATE 1: Hot Air has more speculation on who the VP pick will be.
UPDATE 2: This could be a smoke screen, but Tim Kaine does not believe he will be the VP pick.
Kaine’s reflections on being in the vice presidential mix were also tinged more with past tense than present.
“It makes me feel good…flattering,” Kaine said, “I’ve always thought it seemed a bit unlikely but I’m not going to tell you it hadn’t been fun.”
Asked if he has been let in to any conversations surrounding the Democratic veepstakes, Kaine said “I’m going to let the campaign take from here. They’re going to reveal what they want to reveal when they want to reveal it.”
“It’s been nice to be mentioned but I’m going to let them do the heavy lifting at this point,” he added.
Tim Kaine is scheduled to flight out of Virginia to Denver on Friday.

Mitt would be the smarter choice.
Mitt would give him Michigan, Nevada, and Colorado.
In addition, Mitt is a bulldog and can raise loads of money.
