UPDATE 1: NY Times
WASHINGTON — Senator John McCain has decided on his running mate, two Republican strategists in contact with Mr. McCain’s campaign said Wednesday. He is expected to reveal his choice at a rally at a basketball arena in Dayton, Ohio, at 11 a.m. Friday.
Mr. McCain’s decision is known only to his small inner circle of advisers, no more than three or four people, who have refused all public discussion on the matter. Republicans close to the campaign said that the top contenders remained the same three men who have been the source of speculation for weeks: former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota and, possibly, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, independent of Connecticut.
I hope it is Mitt Romney!
UPDATE 2: Hot Air is reporting that Karl Rove called Joe Lieberman and asked Lieberman to take himself out of consideration for the VP slot, according to 3 sources. Lieberman said no. Rove is pushing McCain to pick Mitt Romney.
UPDATE 3: A posting on FreeRepublic.com states that Norah McDonnell of MSNBC is reporting that she has learned from McCain campaign sources that John McCain’s final two VP choices are Tom Ridge and Tim Pawlenty.
Honestly, I highly doubt the report.

Coming from MSNBC, I wouldn’t believe a report. However, I think Mitt Romney isn’t it because he’s been appearing to the press way too much. VP picks tend to stay quiet while they’re still on the list.

Hell, I don’t trust much of anything from (P)MSNBC. I wouldn’t be to see it be Fred Thompson, but what McCain really needs is someone with executive office experience. My guess is it will be Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska. After reading more about her, I like her.
