Barack Obama’s “Me too” moment.

As Barack Obama states, words matter. Apparently, so do gestures. Obama’s “Me too” moment was his worst gaffe of last Friday’s debate, especially when he had to look down at his bracelet to remember Ryan David Jopek’s name. This looks bad on many levels including Obama’s memory. I thought (the perception of) John McCain was the candidate with memory loss?

UPDATE 1: Gateway Pundit and NewsBusters are both reporting that the father of Sergeant Ryan Jopek, David Jopek, as well as the Jopek family, has asked Barack Obama several times to stop wearing his son’s bracelet, and Obama will not comply!
(David) Jopek began by saying that his ex-wife was taken aback, even upset, that Obama has made the death of her son a campaign issue. Jopek says his wife gave Obama the bracelet because “she just wanted Mr. Obama to know Ryan’s name.” Jopek went on to say that “she wasn’t looking to turn it into a big media event” and “just wanted it to be something between Barack Obama and herself.” Apparently, they were all shocked it became such a big deal.
But, he also said that his ex-wife has refused further interviews on the matter and that she wanted Obama to stop wearing the reminder of her son’s sacrifice that he keeps turning into a campaign soundbyte.
Sad and pathetic, Senator Obama.

I thought Obama’s biggest gaff was several points in the debate where he talked about his “accomplishments.” But what he seemed to think was an “accomplishment” was raising spending on differen’t programs. He didn’t talk about where he actually changed the program to make them better, just how much more money he drained from the government budget to feed those programs.
What Obama obviously did not understand was that more money does not mean more quality, especially with the government. McCain failed to call him on this very vulnerable point and he had several opportunities to do so… which is what I believe was McCain’s biggest Gaff.
