LAS VEGAS (AP) - O.J. Simpson is going to prison; the question is for how long.

The 61-year-old former football star who walked away a free man after a celebrated murder trial was due to learn Friday how much time he’ll spend in a Nevada state prison for a botched attempt to recover sports mementos and personal items from two collectibles peddlers.

Neither Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 slayings of his ex-wife and her friend in Los Angeles, nor his co-defendant and former golfing buddy, Clarence “C.J. Stewart, testified at trial. They were convicted Oct. 3 of 12 criminal charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery, and face mandatory prison time—a minimum of six years and up to life.

Simpson attorney Yale Galanter has said his client won’t address the court. Stewart will, said his lawyer, Brent Bryson.

“Best-case scenario we’re hoping for is six years. That’s the bottom-end number before being eligible for parole,” Bryson said.

Everyone is fixated on this case because some believe this is finally overdue justice for Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Fred Goldman, Ron Goldman’s father, will make a statement to the media after O.J. Simpson is sentenced. Fred Goldman and Kim Goldman, who is the sister of Ron Goldman, are both present in the courtroom today.

Scoop This will post the judge’s sentence as soon as it is rendered.

UPDATE 1: O.J. Simpson told a sob story about visiting Nevada since 1959 and how he has never broken the law in the state of Nevada during that time. O.J. Simpson said, “I didn’t mean to steal from anybody.” O.J. Simpson said he was just trying to retrieve his “stolen” items.

UPDATE 2: The judge has stated that everything about the robbery and kidnapping, as well as the planning of this crime, was on tape. The judge has stated that the events of this case are very violent, especially since “large-bodied men” showed force and guns were involved.

UPDATE 3:
The judge has stated she “is not here to sentence O.J. Simpson for what happened 13 years ago”, of course referencing the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The judge also stated she “is not sentencing O.J. Simpson for retribution” against his past.

UPDATE 4: O.J. Simpson sentenced to 18 years in prison! The kidnapping and armed robbery charges, and the other 8 charges, will run co-currently.

O.J. Simpson will serve at least 5 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole.

UPDATE 5: This could be a potential life sentence for O.J. Simpson because he is 61 years old.

UPDATE 6: breitbart.com

Disgraced former American football star O.J. Simpson was sentenced Friday to at least 15 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping during a 2007 raid on a Las Vegas hotel room.

Fox News is reporting that O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.

Fred Goldman and the Goldman family will make a statement soon.

UPDATE 7: Drama outside of the courtroom!

Fred Goldman says, “That S.O.B. belongs in shackles. This is a bittersweet sentence.”

Black people are shouting, “Go home, Goldman!”, as well as jeering and cursing at the Goldman family.

One sign read, “Free OJ - you nasty black haters!”

UPDATE 8: breitbart.tv

O.J. Simpson faced a total of 33 years in prison. I would say that the judge was lenient on O.J. Simpson.

I respectfully disagree with Kitty and with Goldman as well as the judge and the jury involved with this case. My suspicions are still heightened because of past history handling a botched probe in Los Angeles.
Las Vegas authorities have done a better job, but there is still a lot of suspicion.
I find that the Black Nevadans cursing the Goldmans are absolutely right to be upset, absolutely 100 percent correct to direct their venom especially at that Big Lie-pushing lout Fred Goldman, who, please forgive me, reminds me way too much of Adolf Hitler in his approach and his rantings.
    BUT
Their venom needs to be directed more squarely upon the system. Perhaps a petition to the Governor of Nevada to pardon Simpson is in order.
But in this case Simpson may have burnt himself to an extent. A good part of this is his own doing, as he should have relied upon a private investigator. His own libertarian tendencies drove him to the so-called “robbery” and the so-called “kidnapping” when he made an effort to reclaim what rightfully belonged to him. Methinks that if he had been alive during the days of the Revolutionary War he would have readily joined General Washington at Valley Forge. But he should have directed this toward something more pressing, like the freedom of speech or the freedom to keep and bear arms.
Am I here to excuse his behaviour? No. I can better understand the case in Nevada than I ever could the case in California.

He got what was coming to him. He was guilty then and guilty now. I don’t understand why you black people are so prejudice which is evident by the taunting of Ron Goldman who lost his son to that ruthless murderer.
